Guided Writing Work Sessions
These are 90 minute opportunities to work quietly on an essay or assignment in a group setting while receiving frequent feedback from Lindsay Rice Yoshida. Sessions are capped at 5 students.
They will be held on Saturdays from 1:00-2:30pm at the Leawood Library:
4700 Town Center Dr
Leawood, KS 66211
Study Room #115 or #116
(These sessions are not affiliated with library programs)

Students may sign at the beginning of the semester to ensure their spot. Also, students may sign up as late as one day prior to the session, and must send information about their project by that time as well. Groups need to have at least 3 students, and fees are $30 per student, to be paid by each session.
If Saturday scheduled groups are full, or timing does not fit your schedule, additional groups of 4-5 may be formed from friends or classmates and held at a student’s home during regular tutoring times as available.
Students can be of various high school grade levels, but must communicate before session about their project, ie. send teacher essay prompt 1 day before and tell Mrs. Yoshida where they are in their writing process.
(ex. thesis building, introduction, integrating quotes, final revision, “I’m trying to improve my topic sentences”)
Students are expected to work quietly the whole 90 minute session, paying attention to my frequent feedback and guidance while they work. Most feedback is given quickly aloud to the student, or written on the Google Doc upon which they are working, and which I can monitor from my computer. Sometimes, I will step outside the study room with a student for a few minutes if more guidance is needed.
5 spots are available each day, prepaid by Pay Pal or by check brought to the session.
